The Royal Dutch Pharmaceutical Students’ Association (K.N.P.S.V.) is the umbrella association for Pharmacy students and students (Bio-) Pharmaceutical Sciences in the Netherlands. As a member of L.P.S.V. „Aesculapius”, you automatically become a member of the K.N.P.S.V., and this provides many opportunities both on social and professional level!
The K.N.P.S.V. is a national association, which consists of all members of L.P.S.V. „Aesculapius”, , G.F.S.V. "Pharmaciae Sacrum", the study association for pharmacy students in Groningen and U.P.S.V. "Unitas Pharmaceuticorum", the study association for pharmacy students in Utrecht and the students from the Association of Chemistry Students at the Free University (VCSVU) of Amsterdam. The K.N.P.S.V. organises various activities to bring (bio-)pharmacy students together. These activities are organised by committees consisting of members from the various associations. There is a committee which organizes the annual K.N.P.S.V. Congress. The International Committee (IC) organizes international lectures and an exchange with students from another country (TWIN). Besides, the Future and Perspetives Committee (TOP) organizes a professions day and the sports day committee organises the annual sports day. The K.N.P.S.V. also has an association magazine called the Folia Pharmaceutica. This magazine contains scientific articles, activity reports, photos and other interesting pieces.
In addition to the connection with and between the pharmacy students, the K.N.P.S.V. maintains the contact with other associations such as the KNMP, VJA, NIA, JongNVZA and NVZA. The ties with the various associations within the pharmaceutical world can help you orientate early in your student days in the professional field and this offers prospects for the future. In collaboration with the professional associations, the K.N.P.S.V. has set up a special project named the ‘snuffelstage’, which is a one day internship program. You can experience a day in a community pharmacy, hospital pharmacy or pharmaceutical company, to see what type of work being done within that company or industry.
Besides the contact with fellow students in the Netherlands and professional associations, the K.N.P.S.V. is active on international level. The K.N.P.S.V. is a member of the European Pharmaceutical Students’ Association (EPSA) and International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation (IPSF). Both EPSA and IPSF organize a (semi) annual congress which consists of one week full of meetings, parties and getting to know other cultures and cities. These congresses are very informative and most of all very fun. The Netherlands is represented by the commissioner of Foreign affairs and the commissioner of general affairs of the K.N.P.S.V. In collaboration with these associations the K.N.P.S.V. organises several activities such as the TWIN. The TWIN is an exchange program between two European cities consisting of two weekends. All members of the K.N.P.S.V. can participate in the activities of EPSA and IPSF such as the congresses or summer universities. The individual mobility project (IMP) is an internship organised in collaboration with EPSA allowing master students or students who have just graduated to follow a paid internship from 2 to 12 months in a European city. For a shorter exchange program you can go abroad with IPSF for a period from 2 weeks till 3 month (SEP).
